Save Our Seabirds, a local nonprofit organization dedicated to rescuing and rehabilitating sick and injured birds, will host its highly anticipated annual fundraiser, “Under the Big Top,” on Saturday, March 29, 2025, from 6-10pm, at the Circus Arts Arena. What began as a dream of the “Pelican Man” has blossomed into a full-fledged avian hospital and rehabilitation center. Save Our Seabirds now operates a state-of-the-art facility on City Island in Sarasota, where a dedicated veterinary team treats over 1,200 birds annually. Visitors can also explore the Wild Bird Learning Center, featuring the popular Birdwalk. Here, guests can encounter over 100 non-releasable resident birds, each with its own unique story. 

The center’s knowledgeable staff provide educational experiences that emphasize the vital role birds play in maintaining a healthy ecosystem while showcasing their remarkable beauty and resilience. Now in its 12th year, “Under the Big Top” is set to deliver an unforgettable evening of circus-inspired elegance and entertainment. Guests will savor gourmet cuisine and cocktails from an open bar, catered by the celebrated Michael’s on East. The evening will feature live music, dancing, and spellbinding circus-themed performances that will keep the excitement alive throughout the night. The event also includes a live auction and paddle raise, offering attendees the opportunity to make a meaningful impact. All proceeds will directly support Save Our Seabirds’ essential work to rescue, rehabilitate, and release avian wildlife.

The evening concludes with guests dancing the night away, all while contributing to a cause that benefits our local environment. Tickets for “Under the Big Top” are on sale now for $250 per person. Sponsorship opportunities, ranging from $1,000 to $20,000, are available now.
