Wild Bird Rescue Training Class: Learn to Be a Hero for Our Feathered Friends SARASOTA, FL— Save Our Seabirds is excited to announce a unique opportunity for nature enthusiasts, animal lovers, and anyone passionate about making a difference in the lives of wild birds. Join us for our Wild Bird Rescue Training Class on February 22, from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m., at 1708 Ken Thompson Pkwy. This workshop will teach participants how to safely rescue injured or distressed wild birds and transport them to our avian hospital for rehabilitation. Designed for both beginners and experienced bird enthusiasts, this class equips attendees with the knowledge and tools to become a critical part of our conservation efforts.

What You’ll Learn: How to identify signs of injury or illness in wild birds. Proper handling techniques to ensure the safety of both rescuer and bird. The essential tools and equipment for safe bird rescue. Guidelines for assessing when and how to intervene in a bird’s natural habitat. Best practices for stress-free transportation to rehabilitation facilities.

No prior experience is required—just a passion for helping wildlife. All materials will be provided. 

FAQs: Age Requirement: Participants must be 18 years or older. Location Details: The class will take place outdoors on the lower level of Save Our Seabirds. Seating is provided, but attendees are welcome to bring their own folding chairs for added comfort. Live Bird Interaction: While no live birds will be handled during the class, participants will practice using “Petey the Pelican,” our beloved stuffed animal. Post-Training Opportunities: After completing the class, attendees are encouraged to apply as volunteers. Scheduling will be coordinated based on availability.
